Police accuse Ven. Vijitha of lying about his abduction, assault

Just as much as most Politicians cheat as
it suits their circumstances, monks who are expected to to be in an honourable position in some cases resort to cheating the whole world which indeed is a tragedy. It is now revealed that Vijitha Thero who was found lying by the roadside by himself inflicting injuries on self having awaited a suitable time when incidents are reported across the international media that there is a religious conflict in Sri Lanka both in the local and foreign media. Vijitha Thero's incident has been publicized in these media with accompanying photos. 

It is now understood that he had lodged a false complaint with the police with the motive of leading them astray and now the police have decided to file action in this regard. The Police Media Spokesman yesterday stated that it has already been confirmed that the monks complaint is a false one.

Watareka Vijitha Thero was found lying beside a road in Hirana area in Panadura, having been subjected to assault and was then admitted to hospital.

On interrogation what he said was that some people after having assaulted him had thrown him by the roadside, where he was found.

When the police engaged in a rather difficult investigation of the environs of the location where the incident took place have interrogated several people in the area, going as far as securing videos of locations where CCTV cameras were installed; but it was ultimately difficult to find any evidence to the effect that the thero was abducted and subsequently left by the roadside.

It is now learned that the injuries on his body were those inflicted by the thero himself as was confirmed by Medical Officers.

It has been found out by inquiries conducted by the police that a relative of the thero had so left him on the roadside in Hirana area after the thero had inflicted injuries on his ownself.

Watareka Vijitha Thero, a member of the Provincial Council in Mahiyangana had so fallen by the roadside after causing these cut injuries with the aid of a key had done all this with the intention of drawing attention of the media towards him.

The fact that Vijitha Thero had appeared dumb and had refrained from speaking for along time in hospital had aggravated the suspicion against him and at the time he was hospitalized there was no justifiable reason enough for him to be silent or for his speech to break down as such. 

While none of the cut injuries found on the body were serious enough according to doctors; it could even be inflicted by oneself. 

Though the thero is now in a position to leave the hospital without any difficulty he has kept on refusing to do so, talking about a sickly condition and thus putting the medical staff into inconvenience confirming that all this a fake.

the police have taken steps to file action against PC member Ven Watareka Vijitha Thero for having lodged a false complaint; thus leading them astray.

It nevertheless is unfortunate that  even religious representatives maintain narrow objectives so as to even play a role of acting to confirm that in the eyes of the world that Sri Lanka is a nation where harmful masses who create religious conflict live.
